>What do you feel makes a man, a man, in today's society? What attributes do you feel a man should possess, how should he think and act? Source
You know, there is no universally applicable response to this issue, and various people may have different conceptions of what masculinity is, how a guy is supposed to behave, what qualities he should possess, and so forth. However, there are a number of characteristics that are frequently linked to masculinity, such as physical power, emotional strength, boldness, bravery, leadership, and a high sense of personal accountability. Other characteristics that some people would consider to be fundamental to a man's character are integrity, honesty, and respect for others.
In today's society, the traditional view of masculinity has changed over time and is still evolving. In the past, the majority has consistently defined or held the belief that strict gender roles and expectations are a part of masculinity. Examples include the notion that men should be the only breadwinners in their families or that they should display particular behaviors, such as being emotionally stoic or physically aggressive.
However, as society becomes more inclusive and welcoming of a wider range of gender expressions and identities, these traditional conceptions of masculinity are being questioned and reevaluated. Today, there is a growing acceptance that people of all genders can exhibit attributes that were traditionally seen to be exclusively masculine, and that masculinity itself can take various forms. Nowadays, these characteristics are not limited to men; many women, such as the feminist, possess them as well.
It's also important to note that toxic or negative aspects of masculinity, such as aggression, domination, and violence, are not positive qualities that anyone should aspire to have. Ladies view that as a red flag. Even though I'm a a guy, I find it offensive when I witness a fully mature adult (man) physically abusing his spouse in the name of a marriage or relationship issues. I consider that to be assault, and the offender has to be prosecuted.
Other qualities I believe a person who identifies as a man should have include;
-
Learn to respect others: Treating people with decency and understanding, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, or other personal qualities, whether they be a coworker, junior staff, or apprentice. "Respect is reciprocal," they say.
-
Take Responsibility for your actions. Owning up to one's choices and actions and accepting responsibility for the results.
-
Leadership: As a male, we are being identified as the head of the family so therefore we should be able to have the capacity to motivate and guide others for instance, your children, spouse, or apprentice etc, and to make choices that advance the greater good.
Ultimately, regardless of gender, the most essential thing is for a person to be true to themselves, to be a person of integrity, and to live in a manner that is real and gratifying to them.
Happy Sunday! Do enjoy your day.
