Hello and welcome to my blog. It's my first time writing a movie review as well as my first posting here in this community. I'm more of an anime fan, but there's this show called 'Bel-Air' that I've been watching since last week. The plot of the black American television show Bel- air centers on a young, talented teenager called Will Smith who has spent his whole life in the rough neighborhood of West Philadelphia without a father. Due to his dad continually getting into trouble in order to generate money, Will's mother tried to protect him by keeping his dad away from him.
But things changed when Will was compelled to move in with his wealthy aunt and uncle in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, after getting into some serious issues with some drug dealers and street basketball players. He found it difficult to fit in and adapt to the luxurious life, but eventually began to adapt to the changes. It however cost him his friendship with his close buddy Trey. Will continue to strive to keep his West Philadelphia identity plus did his things in the West Philly way. Even though him and his cousin Carlton didn't start off on a good term, in the long run they began to stick out for each other. Although this series/tv program was initially shown during 1990-1996 as 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,' it then ceased for an unknown reason and later returned last year February with the title 'Bel-Air. It features Jabari Banks who plays the role of Will Smith as the main character, along with other characters such as Uncle Phills, Carlton, Yasmin, Aunt Viv, Lisa, Ashley, Geoffrey, Vy etc. Currently, there are just 2 seasons and a total of 13 episodes available for download.
What caught my attention was how the series addresses a very important issues such as racism, gun violence, drug use, having difficulties reaching aspirations and objectives, anxiety, love, crush, sacrifice, fear of being judged by your family and society for the gender you choose to love, fear of being left out by your friends or not being able to fit in, and so on, and all of these issues are most of the struggles we all face on a daily basis in society. Even now, racism between whites and blacks is a problem that has existed for a very long time.
Also, apart from Will's basketball skills, love, and passion, and his determination to become a pro, another touching scene was when his aunt Viv had to give up her dreams and passion for painting in order to be present for her children and support her husband achieve his political goals. Even if she did not feel confident in her artistic abilities, it takes bravery and unconditional love to give up what you like doing for the sake of others.
Following the latest episode, which is episode 3 of season 2, where Carlton suffers another anxiety attack and is left in an uncomfortable situation when requested to give a speech at a rally held by students from his school's black community group. The protest was started as a result of a particular black teacher who was dismissed for an absurd reason, which in turn triggered the protest. I'm anticipating additional episodes to be published this year since there's definitely more to it. I solely recommend y'all to watch this series as it has a very amazing storyline.
Until next time, Do have a nice day.
